THE HISTORIC PARSELLS CHURCH  345 Parsells Avenue  Rochester, NY 14609-5207
Beside Pastor Marlowe, you have an elegant, spirit-filled, administratively-savvy helpmate by his side in the person of Mira J. Washington.  Affectionately known as “First Lady” or “Sister Mira,” she is distinguished with the reputation that positively precedes her professionally, spiritually, socially and academically. A dynamic motivational speaker, retreat and conference leader, Sister Mira crosses denominational lines addressing contemporary issues involving church and society.  She has been aggressive on women’s issues, especially those involving human trafficking and gender-based equality. A small business consultant with Paychex, Inc., the nation’s number one human resources and payroll supply company, Sister Mira is not only spiritually gifted but a professional in the areas of human resources and management. Currently Sister Mira serves on the board of Cameron Community Ministries in Rochester, the 23rd Legislative District of the Monroe County Democratic Committee, and is the president of Church Women United of New York State. Church Women United (CWU) is a national ecumenical Christian women’s movement representing Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox and other Christian women. Mira will be traveling a lot representing women’s concerns throughout local congregations in New York State, ecumenical and international venues, and at the United Nations. Mira is currently spearheading the development of The Historic Parsells Foundation, which will be a new corporation dedicated to the preservation of our landmark building.
